My Co-Writer Jennifer Nichols
For the past 27 years, I have lead a wonderful life. I have family who loves me, friends who support me, and a love for books that has never let me down. I've been writing since I was a little girl. Back when I used to keep a dream journal filled with embellished tales that I'd dreamed about the night before or when I would write fanfiction of my favorite movie or actor, and I would imagine all of these far off places and new worlds that lived just inside my imagination. I was always encouraged to be creative and yet, through all of that, I never once thought about writing a book. However, five years ago something happened.
I began to feel a stirring in the back of my mind. A little inkling. An unconscious nudge. An undeniable plot that nagged me day and night. A storyline so solid that I could practically hear the characters chattering around in my head. So, I did what any sane person would do. I gave myself over to my muse and started to write a book.
Sadly, I must admit that, as with a lot of first books, this one crashed and burned (though I still keep that hope it will eventually rise from the ashes like a phoenix). It was harsh, but still my imagination wouldn't let me rest. Fast forwarding to a year ago and I found myself once more consumed by a plotline that growled at my relationship with procrastination and dug its claws into my psyche until I had to share it with someone else. Someone who has become my partner in crime, the bane of my existence (she knows she drives me crazy sometimes ;). ), and a co-author that has kept me grounded and pushed me to keep on keeping on. Ms. Stacey Hays and I formed a team and began the creation of a book that I'm still obssessed months after it was finished.
Age of Eden is the manuscript we created. It's what we poured our blood, sweet and tears (literally and figuratively hehe) into. It is also what's taken a lot of the attention away from our family, our friends, our work, or anything else that would have gotten in the way of our driving need to finish the book. But this is where destiny, as cheesy as it sounds, comes into play. Again, I'm about to hit you with some cheese, there comes a point in every one's life (wah, wah, wah) when you finally realize what you're meant to do. Some people make outstanding nurses, some are factory workers, some people decided to be protectors of the people, and some people...some people decide to write.
I don't expect to become rich and famous over night. Heck, I don't expect to be rich at all from publishing books. What I do expect is to one day see my books on the shelves of every book store and placed somewhere on the NY Times Best Seller List. I know it's going to happen. And that, my friends, is why I decided to create this website. I want everyone to follow me on this journey, to see where I started and where I go from here. There's a place in this world for me and my books. Now all I have to do is find it.
